Author Guidelines

AUTHOR GUIDELINES

Journal of Public Auditing and Financial Management (JPAFM) welcomes original research articles, review articles, and case studies in the fields of public auditing, public sector financial management, government accounting, and related disciplines. To ensure a smooth submission and review process, authors are required to follow the guidelines below:

1. General Requirements
  • Originality: Submissions must be original and not previously published or under consideration elsewhere.
  • Language: Articles should be written in English or Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Plagiarism: All submissions will be screened for plagiarism. Articles with significant overlap or duplication will be rejected.
  • Ethics: Authors must adhere to the journal’s Publication Ethics guidelines.
2. Article Structure

Manuscripts should be organized as follows:

  1. Title: Concise and descriptive, reflecting the main focus of the study.
  2. Abstract: A brief summary (150–250 words) of the research objectives, methods, results, and conclusions.
  3. Keywords: 3–5 keywords that represent the main topics of the article.
  4. Introduction: Clearly state the research problem, objectives, and significance of the study.
  5. Literature Review: Provide a review of relevant literature and theoretical framework.
  6. Methods: Describe the research design, data collection, and analysis methods in detail.
  7. Results: Present the findings clearly and concisely, supported by tables or figures if necessary.
  8. Discussion: Interpret the results, discuss their implications, and compare them with previous studies.
  9. Conclusion: Summarize the main findings and suggest practical or theoretical contributions.
  10. References: List all cited works using APA Style 7th Edition (see section 6).
3. Formatting
  • File Format: Submit manuscripts in Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx) format.
  • Font: Use Calibri, size 11, with 1 line spacing.
  • Length: Articles should typically be between 3,000–8,000 words, including references.
  • Margins: Set margins to 2.5 cm on all sides.
  • Tables and Figures: Ensure tables and figures are clearly labeled and cited in the text.
  • Template: Authors are strongly encouraged to use the official journal template. Download Template (Direct Link) (File akan langsung terunduh).
4. Submission Process
  1. Register or log in to the journal’s submission system at https://ejournal.imperiuminstitute.org/index.php/JPAFM/about/submissions
  2. Upload your manuscript and any supplementary files.
  3. Provide all required metadata (e.g., author names, affiliations, contact information).
  4. Confirm that the manuscript complies with the journal’s guidelines.
5. Peer Review Process

All submissions undergo a single-blind peer review process. Authors can expect feedback within 4–6 weeks. View complete Peer Review Policy.

6. Reference Style and Predatory Journals and References

Use the APA (American Psychological Association) 7th Edition style for references. For detailed guidance, refer to the Purdue OWL APA Formatting and Style Guide (7th Edition).

Examples:

  • Book: Author, A. A. (Year). Title of book. Publisher.
  • Journal Article: Author, B. B. (Year). Title of article. Journal Name, Volume(Issue), page range. DOI or URL (if available).
  • Website: Author, C. C. (Year, Month Day). Title of webpage. Website Name. URL

When using sources for your research, please be aware that material could have been published in questionable, scholarly, usually Open Access journals. These “predatory” journals include the variety that seek to attract potential authors with flattering spam e-mails assuring rapid publication on the basis of the Journal’s highly esteemed reputation in the field. Too often, these journals have exactly the same or very similar names to those of well-established journals. Springer Nature recommends authors to assess carefully whether an article published by a “predatory” journal should be referenced. Please note that several abstracting & indexing services, including Clarivate Analytics, are taking ethical publication seriously by examining the content, practices, and websites of these “predatory” journals.

7. Declaration Section

Authors must include a declaration section after the main text (before references) covering the following points:

  1. Competing interests: State any financial or non-financial interests that could be perceived as conflicting with the research. If none, state “The authors declare no competing interests.”
  2. Informed Consent: For studies involving human participants, include a statement that informed consent was obtained from all subjects. For animal studies, state that ethical approval was obtained.
  3. Funding, Data, Materials and/or Code Availability: Acknowledge all funding sources. Indicate whether data, materials, or code are available and, if so, where they can be accessed (e.g., repository link). If not available, state the reason.
  4. Use of Generative AI and AI assisted Technologies: Disclose any use of AI tools in the writing or research process. Provide the name/version of the tool and the purpose. If no AI was used, state “No AI tools were used in the preparation of this manuscript.” See the AI Statement for details.
  5. Authorship statement: Confirm that all authors meet the ICMJE authorship criteria, have approved the final version, and agree to be accountable for the work. List each author’s contribution (e.g., using CRediT taxonomy).
8. Standards of Reporting

Authors are expected to adhere to appropriate reporting guidelines to ensure transparency and reproducibility. The following are recommended:

For other study types, authors should consult the EQUATOR Network for the relevant reporting guideline.

9. Publication Charges
  • Submission Fee: Free (IDR 0).
  • Publication Fee: A fee of IDR 300,000 is charged upon article acceptance. Payment instructions will be provided. View complete APC details.
