2. Writing StyleJPAFM uses APA Style versions 6 and 7. For detailed information, please learn here

3. Manuscript Type and StructureJPAFM publishes the following article types: Research Article, Book Review, Commentaries, and Short Report. The content of the manuscript should present original scientific research in the area of operational research and related areas within the scope of the journal. The authors should organize their paper such that it follows the IMRAD structure.

3.1. Research Article
Abstract, Introduction, Literature Review, Methodology and Data, Results & Discussion, Conclusion, List of references, Declarations

3.2. Book Review
Book reports are short articles that are written by specialists and read by the general community. The aim of a Book report is to give a brief summary of the book's strengths and weaknesses and to evaluate the book's overall usefulness to the audience it is intended for.

3.3. Commentaries
Commentaries are short, narrowly focused articles of contemporary interest and usually take one of the following forms:

  • Discussion of an article or study that was recently published or that is soon to be published (including in JPAFM), and that is interesting enough to warrant further comment or explanation. This type of commentary discusses specific issues within a subject area rather than the whole field, explains the implications of the article, and puts it in context. Opinions are welcome as long as they are factually based.
  • A commentary that is more editorial in nature and covers an aspect of an issue that is relevant to the journal's scope, for example, discussion of the impact of new technology on research and treatment.
  • Brief Reports: These are not simply descriptions of something but also explore the potential impacts for evolution business and outreach, such as Online business, Software, Reports of major conferences/society activity/working groups, Case reports from business projects that are not ready for a full article.

Commentaries should not exceed 6000 words.

3.4. Short Report

Short reports are a feature of the journal that can provide types of articles that include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Presentation of research that extends previously published research, including the reporting of additional controls and confirmatory results in other settings, as well as negative results;
  • Case studies;
  • Reports of evidence-based changes in practices around the world.

Manuscripts must be submitted using the online submission form. It is journal policy that the online submission process must be carried out by the corresponding author. The corresponding author will receive all correspondence, including an initial acknowledgment and the decision, by e-mail.

5. Reviewing processEvery manuscript is peer-reviewed, according to the following procedures.

Initial manuscript evaluation
The Editors first evaluate all manuscripts. In many cases, the Editors will return a paper promptly to its author(s) at this stage because it clearly does not match the journal’s stated interests, scope or level of quality.

Type and duration of peer review
JPAFM employs double-blind reviewing, in which the reviewer is unknown to the author, and the identity of the author is unknown to the reviewer. Upon acceptance to review the manuscript, the reviewer is asked to submit its review within 4 weeks (in some cases, extensions to this period could be approved by the editor).

Reviewers’ report
Referees advise the Editors. The Editors’ decision to accept or to reject a manuscript will be sent promptly to the author, with suitably detailed explanations. The paper could be accepted as is, accepted with minor revisions, revised, and resubmitted or rejected.

The Editors’ decision
The Editors are responsible for the final decision to accept or to reject a given manuscript, and there the process ends.

6. Copyright and license agreement During submission, you will need to accept and confirm the following conditions:

  • All authors of the manuscript have read and agreed to its content and are accountable for all aspects of the accuracy and integrity of the manuscript in accordance with JMSAB criteria
  • That the article is original, has not already been published in a journal, and is not currently under consideration by another journal
  • That you agree to the terms of the Imperium Copyright and License Agreement, which we strongly recommend you read and, where applicable, Open Data policy.
